Why recycle gypsum waste?
Save on disposal costs:
Landfill disposal of construction waste in Gauteng can cost between R450 and R1,050 per ton, including transport, handling, and gate fees. Recycling gypsum waste removes landfill disposal costs entirely, helping you reduce project waste expenses.
Supporting green building certification
Diverting gypsum waste from landfill can contribute points toward leading certification systems such as Green Star, LEED, EDGE, BREEAM, and WELL, where responsible waste management is a recognised sustainability criterion.

Strengthen ESG reporting
Gyproc provides a recycling certificate confirming the total tonnage collected, recycled, and emissions avoided giving you credible documentation to support ESG disclosures, sustainability reporting, and client requirements.

Stay ahead of regulation
South Africa’s Draft National Waste Management Strategy (2026) signals a clear shift toward higher landfill diversion targets for construction and demolition waste. Recycling gypsum today helps you prepare for tightening compliance requirements while demonstrating leadership in sustainable construction.
