At Gyproc South Africa, we are committed to sustainability and believe in the responsible use of resources to create a better, more sustainable future for our planet. At Gyproc South Africa, we help to design interior spaces that are individually comfortable and aesthetically functional for every usage requirement. On the other hand, we want to conserve resources when producing, using and dismantling our systems, preserving natural habitats and not causing additional damage to them.

Contribution from Gyproc

We minimise our environmental footprint by:

  • Integrating our sustainability approach at each stage of the product life cycle, from the extraction of the raw materials, to production, through to our end-of-life recycling process;
  • Locating our global manufacturing facilities as close as possible to the main construction hotspots, ensuring that our response is prompt and that our materials are local to minimise transportation;
  • Participating in large-scale land restoration of gypsum quarries ;
  • Limiting our impact on natural resources and biodiversity;
  • Minimizing our energy consumption and CO2 emissions; and  
  • Reducing the levels of water withdrawal and water discharge in liquid form (aiming for zero discharge).

Gypsum as a sustainable building material

Gypsum is an ecologically and biologically ideal building material: it is non-toxic, pH-neutral and non-flammable. When transporting and processing light gypsum systems, less energy and water is also used than in traditional construction. This further reduces the burden on the environment.

Reducing Environmental Impact with Rhinoboard®

Our Rhinoboard® product is a prime example of our commitment to sustainability. It's designed to not only meet the highest quality standards but also to have a reduced environmental impact throughout its lifecycle.
