KFC Remodeling, Colesberg, Northern Cape
Cnr N9 &, Sluiters St Colesberg, Northern Cape. 9795 South Africa
Situated in the heart of the Northern Cape, Colesberg is a historic Karoo town well-known as a key stopover between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Surrounded by scenic semi-desert landscapes and sheep farms, the town is popular for its 19th-century architecture, Karoo hospitality, and heritage attractions such as the Colesberg-Kemper Museum and Doornkloof Nature Reserve. The town’s strategic location makes it a busy hub for travellers and transport routes - an ideal setting for a high-traffic quick-service restaurant like KFC. The KFC Colesberg branch underwent a full exterior remodelling, which involved stripping the old façade cladding and installing a new Glasroc® X exterior cladding system. This upgrade not only enhanced the visual appeal of the restaurant but also improved its structural integrity, durability, and safety. The Glasroc® X exterior cladding system provided a sustainable, lightweight, and cost-effective solution suitable for long-term performance in the region’s challenging climatic conditions.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

- Ease of installation: lightweight, easy to cut and fix.
- Dry construction: no need for wet trades, reducing curing time and water usage.
- Contractor-friendly: quick learning curve and compatibility with standard tools.
3. The project demonstrates how lightweight sheathing systems like Glasroc® X can support fast-track retail renovations, especially in the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) sector.
4. Reduced water usage and simplified installation meant fewer delays and less dependency on weather or drying conditions. Enabled seamless coordination between demolition, structural framing, and external sheathing.
